Use your Palm OS device's Internet connection to
HotSync, access intranet email or web servers, remotely control
your PC or perform any other local network enabled task.
Mergic™
VPN allows you to securely access
a private network, such as your corporate or home LAN, using a connection
to the Internet. This means that you can access resources on your LAN just
as if you were directly connected to it.
Mergic VPN 1.1 is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client for the
Palm OS that uses widely available
authentication and encryption technologies along with the Point-to-Point
Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) to provide you with a secure connection to your
private network.
Virtually all network enabled Palm OS handhelds and smartphones are supported including the
palmOne Tungsten series, palmOne
Treo series smartphones, Sony CLIÉ
handhelds, Samsung i300, i330 and SPH-i500 smartphones, and the Kyocera QCP 6035 and 7135 smartphones, as well
as other models and devices from other manufacturers.
VPN Server Requirements
Mergic VPN requires access to a VPN server
running the PPTP protocol.
PPTP server support is available as part of many platforms including
most Cisco platforms,
Nortel Networks VPN products including the
Contivity series,
several of the Microsoft operating systems
(Windows XP,
Windows 2000 Professional,
Windows 2000 Server,
Windows NT Workstation and Server),
Linux
and other operating system and firewall/VPN servers and appliances such as those available from
SnapGear,
Netopia and
WatchGuard.
Details of the Mergic VPN implementation can be found on the
