First palmOne SDIO WiFi Card includes VPN Support
SAMMAMISH, Wash., August 17, 2003 - Mergic, Inc., announced that a version of its
Mergic™
Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
VPN client will be included with the new palmOne™
WiFi Card.
This will enable palmOne WiFi Card users that need
behind-the-firewall access to securely check email, browse their company
intranet and wirelessly synchronize with their desktop to back up information
and manage email.

The palmOne WiFi card provide a second level of wireless connectivity for
Tungsten™
T3 and Zire™
72 handheld
users with the introduction of its first Wi-Fi card. Developed specifically for
handheld owners who want to complement the integrated Bluetooth®
technology solutions of the Zire 72 and Tungsten T3 handhelds, the Wi-Fi card contains a
built-in 802.11b radio that lets users set up and quickly connect to the
Internet anytime they are within range of a Wi-Fi access point or hotspot.
The palmOne WiFi card adds 802.11b wireless network connectivity to the Tungsten T3
and Zire™
72 handhelds.
Connect anywhere you have Wi-Fi access - at home,
the office or at hotels, cafes and airports using Wi-Fi
(802.11b, channels 1 - 11) technology. Send and receive email, browse the web,
even wirelessly synchronize with your computer. (May require additional service plans,
